Στις 11 Απριλίου, μια ομάδα φοιτητών οργάνωσε, στο Πανεπιστήμιου Κύπρου, εκδήλωση σχετικά με την εμπορία προσώπων. Ομιλήτριες ήταν η Χρυστάλλα Αγαθοκλέους, διοικητικός λειτουργός της οργάνωσής μας, η Ανδρούλα Χριστοφίδου Ενρίκες, επίτιμη πρόεδρος της οργάνωσης, και η Ελένη Μιχαήλ προϊσταμένη του αστυνομικού Γραφείου Καταπολέμησης της Εμπορίας Προσώπων. Οι πρώτες δυο ομιλίες είχαν θέμα το ιστορικό της οργάνωσης και την ευθύνη των πελατών για τη διαιώνιση της εμπορίας προσώπων, διότι, όπως αναφέρθηκε, «κανένα εμπόριο δεν ζει χωρίς πελατεία» και «λίγοι πουλούν, εκατομμύρια αγοράζουν». Η τρίτη ομιλία ήταν για ειδικά χαρακτηριστικά του εγκλήματος αυτού και για σχετικές δραστηριότητες του αστυνομικού Γραφείου για την καταπολέμησή του.
Οι φοιτητές έδειξαν μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον και συνέχισαν και με άλλες εκδηλώσεις σχετικά με το θέμα του τράφικιγκ. Στις 5 Μαΐου πρόβαλαν στο Πανεπιστήμιο Λευκωσίας την ταινία Λίλια για Πάντα (Lilya Forever), ύστερα από εισαγωγή που έκανε η επίτιμη πρόεδρός μας Ανδρούλα Χριστοφίδου-Ενρίκες.
On Monday, April 11, a group of students organized, at the main campus of the University of Cyprus, an event on human trafficking. Speakers were Chrystalla Agathocleous and Androula Christophidou Henriques, administrative officer and honorary president of the organization respectively; and Eleni Michael, head of the Police Unit Against Trafficking. The first two spoke on the history of the organization and the responsibility of the customers for the perpetuation of human trafficking, because “no trade survives without customers” and “only a few sell, millions buy”. The third speech was on special characteristics of this crime and related activities of the police unit.
Students showed great interest in the topics that were presented. They continued with other events about trafficking. On May 5, the film “Lilya Forever” was screened at the University of Nicosia, following an introduction by the honorary president.
